Regular season meets are going very well with our third one this Saturday in Commerce City. Are girls are getting qualified for Regionals but that can’t be our only goal. We want to compete well at regionals so that means that we have to work very hard on getting all our skills and cleaning those routines. The competition at Regionals is MUCH tougher than regular meets so lets get ready! The coaches are very proud of you so keep working hard!
Regional T-Shirts & Shorts!
Every year the CARA league sells Regional/State T-shirts and Shorts but this year instead of them being sold at the Regional and State meet they will ONLY be available being pre-ordered through the team! We will make a small profit through the sales for our program as well as some of the proceeds that will go to help support the league. What is nice is that with the pre orders there is no leftovers that have to be paid for so everyone does better! Make sure you look for the order form handout because there will not be any shirts available at Regionals and State! Order by: June 19th!
Meet time schedules are posted on the CARA website at www.caragymnastics.com You can find all your meet times there for this Saturday and our meet on June 27th. Regional and State times should be posted next week!

Just wanting to give everyone the reminder about what I said at our parents meeting in March, come January 2010 we will be changing the times of Compulsory Practice for Tuesday and Thursday nights! Starting Jan T & Th Compulsory Practice will run from 5:00 – 7:00. Optional Practice will stay the same from 6:30 – 9:00, and Mondays will stay at 5:30 for people that have a hardship making the time change. Please start thinking and planning for this now so you know how you will get the girls here by 5. With our numbers rising we want to make sure everyone has a safe and positive gym experience. We hope you understand the need for the change and that your family will be able to make the adjustment without to much trouble. We know it is going to be better in the gym for all our athletes and that is ultimately what we are after.

A new level designation has been established for the league this season. Super 4/5. The purpose of this level is that each season at the Regional and State meet there seems to be some girls that are killing the competition. Sometimes this is due to different team coaching philosophies where they hold girls back to be more proficient. Sometimes it is because when teams place girls in levels in February it is hard to know how fast some girls will improve. By the end of the season there are some girls that had we known they would have improved so fast we probably would have placed them in a higher level. The goal of the league is to recognize as many girls as possible for their hard work. We don’t want girls that should be in a higher level to be sweeping everything from the other gymnasts, plus we want those girls to compete against girls of similar talent. So for the Regional and State Meet compulsory girls that have scored a 33 all Around twice in Regular season will be moved to the Super 4 or Super 5 group for the Regional and State meet. The Super category will be an open age group with all Super’s competing against each other. Because we are moving them to this special designation every Super 4 and Super 5 will automatically qualify for the State meet so they will have 2 Super competitions Regional and State. Girls qualifying for Super 4/5 will not be allowed to compete that same level the following year. Please remember that the purpose of this level is to maximize the recognition for all gymnasts and to help place girls against competition that is appropriate for them. If you have any questions about this please talk to Alan.
